Great small boutique hotel in the Alfama area of Lisbon. This was a great base to explore Lisbon as it is close to cafés, restaurants and tourist attractions. The tram and bus stop was a small walk from the hotel making it an ideal place to stay and explore Lisbon. The rooms were tastefully themed in ode to Portuguese explorers. A complimentary bottle of water and a small bottle of wine was in the room on arrival. Bed was a little too hard for our backs and the pillows were lacking but it didn't spoil our nights sleep. Our room was on the front close to fado café's and restaurants so we thought the room would be noisy at night but it was the complete opposite, the french doors to the juliette balcony were well insulated so when shut the room was really quiet. Breakfast was buffet style self serve (continental) at €15 per person. You could make your own toast to have with the small selection of meats, jams and fruit. If we were to stay again we would opt out of the breakfast option as they were better offerings in local cafés and bakeries in the area that are better priced. We would have preferred more local, traditional pastries etc. On our first day we found the staff to be a little unfriendly but the second day the lady on reception was very friendly and helpful. She even offered us a drink of water while she collected our bags from storage. It was a hot day and we had been sightseeing/walking all day so this was very thoughtful and welcomed. All in all this is a fabulous hotel and we are looking forward to visiting again.

Great location for exploring and right on the famous 28 tram route. The restaurant downstairs was beautiful as were the staff. Breakfast was good but not stunning. The reason for not giving 5 stars is the room we had. We had the top floor room and despite the lovely room and fantastic views they have a major plumbing issue with the second bathroom smelling like a Bali street sewer. For some reason there is a disgusting smell coming from the pipes in the second bathroom, at the top of the stairs and entry to the greater apartment and it impacts the whole studio apartment- very sad. Not sure about the other rooms but don’t ask for the top floor until they have fixed it.

After arriving early evening with an Uber from the airport (14 euro and worked great!), we were greeted at the door by hotel manager Diego who made us feel really at home and took us up to our room. It's a great located boutique hotel, lovely spot at the top of one of the 'hills' of Lisbon, a nice couple of bars 100 metres away, 10mins walk from the castle, 20 mins walk from from the centre of town and the infamous tram 28 passes by the hotel, both the area and Lisbon had a great vibe. Our room was really clean, good facilities of a fridge, coffee machine, sink and a really nice touch of a bottle of rose wine on arrival:-) . Breakfasts were plentiful and relaxed, so all in all a fantastic stay, thanks so much to Diego and the team.

The best and cheapest way to get to hotel is the underground to Martim Moriz station from airport. It’s a climb up the hill to get to hotel. There is a tram in the square where you come out of underground the 12E stops very close to hotel or 28E stops near hotel. You can get tickets at hotel, underground stations and kiosks. We stayed in 2C. The room was nice. No view but is quiet away from road. Downsides are:- The hanging area for clothes. Only 3 hangers and clothes can’t hang properly because it’s not long enough. The noise of next room. The bathroom is right next to 2C and you can hear the toilet flush and the water going etc. The noise of air con. It does a weird humming sound. It’s not too bad when air- con has been off for a while but it’s so loud you can hear next doors got the same problem. It’s not all the time if you don’t use air-con. It also smells a bit damp. Plus points. The staff. They were all very friendly and helpful. We had an issue which was rectified immediately. The breakfast. Nothing too fussy. Had scrambled eggs, hams, cheese, fruit, cereal and cakes, Coffee and lots of choices of juice. A bit cramped but nice. There’s a hairdryer, coffee machine (no tea) free water and small bottle of wine which are nice touches. The showers nice and there’s shampoo and body wash. The maid cleaned our room every day. TV has film choices which are in English but found it hard to change channels. There’s a little kitchen with a microwave and 2 ring cooker. We never cooked anything so not sure how efficient but the room does need a tea towel to dry up or side gets too wet after washing up. The area- I’ve left this separate because it’s a place of 2 halves. Straight ahead of the hotel are some beautiful views, nice places to eat (if you explore) and easy to get to main square - it’s a climb on the way back. Down to the left of hotel back towards Martim Moriz there’s a lot of homeless and can be very daunting later at night. I would not venture off the main road in the dark. Overall it’s the staff that makes this place and they could not do enough for us.
